Pregnancy Mentioned/ 5w3d

Wow! I made LFCA!
It was a good, mellow weekend. We worked on house projects and grocery shopped and watched a couple of movies. The weather was gorgeous and the dogs got some nice walks out of it.

After Friday's good beta I managed to stay pretty calm and stress-free most of the weekend. There were ups and downs, I'm always finding ways of worrying that my breasts aren't as sore as they were the day before etc... but mostly I was fine. I'm not having morning sickness so far, though I did have a bout of dizziness this morning and I absolutely couldn't eat the banana I brought along for breakfast in the car. It's hard to tell how much of it is mental though.

The ultrasound is currently scheduled for Monday, September 21st. I will be 6 weeks 3 days. If all goes well (and there's no reason it won't, but still, Grade-A-Worrywort over here!) we'll see a heartbeat and I'll be over the moon thrilled. One of my big concerns is the timing, I leave on a business trip on the 23rd and if there's one thing I'm terrified of after my last experience, it is having a miscarriage on a business trip. I hope everything looks wonderful at the ultrasound, but if it doesn't there isn't much time to deal with it before I have to leave.
What would you do?

  1. One thing I've learned as a long-time IFer: you can't schedule your life around TTC. It's a battle where the evil TTC Gods will win every time. Any chance you can move up the u/s to 6w0d on that Friday before? If not, just try to assume the best (hard for us, I know) and keep your plans. That's what I would do -- I've changed around too many things assuming the best or worst during my TTC years and it always seems to backfire.

  3. Here from LFCA...

Congrats on the rising betas! I agree that you can't plan your life around TTC; I did that for many many years and mostly just missed out on good things.

I got the call that I was miscarrying from IVF #2 on the day that I was leaving for a business trip in Europe for a week and a half. Mostly I was so busy sightseeing and working that I barely had a chance to think of it the whole trip, up until the very last night. You will make it through whatever you need to. But, fingers crossed (and the odds are in your favor at this point) that everything will be great and instead you'll just have to worry about early pregnancy symptoms on your trip.

    Good luck!

  4. NoodleGirl- definitely considering that option, I think I'll call tomorrow and check with the nurses.

Cassandra- thanks for stopping by my blog! Wow, I'm so glad you had a positive experience in Europe despite the sad loss of IVF #2. When I had my miscarriage last April I was in pain, scared and weak and had to stop what I was doing every hour or so to go to the bathroom- it didn't make for easy working conditions!

    Thanks for all your support!

  5. I agree with the other ladies, you shouldn't plan our life around TTC. Hard, I know, but please try.

Sending you lots of love and good JUJU for Monday!
